As we wrap up 2020, I’d like to reflect on how you met a year full of challenges with compassion, focus, and an unrelenting drive to learn.
Early in the year, you helped us give free Codecademy Pro scholarships to over 100,000 students and 100,000 workers who were impacted by school and business closures. And since then, we’ve heard inspiring stories from people who used that opportunity to do amazing things, like build an app, create their own startup, or reinvent their career.
The Codecademy community came together to support their fellow learners both near and far. We launched Community Chapters in August and already have 73 local chapters across 6 continents. Each one is run by dedicated volunteers who are building new coding communities right in their own backyards.
Over 4,000,000 people took 2020 as an opportunity to start learning with us for the first time. We saw more people submit their first line of code, create jaw-dropping projects, or finish a Career Path than we ever imagined. People around the world just like you decided to learn the modern skills that will shape our collective future.
For that, I am truly thankful. We have big plans for the new year — new products, best WordPress hosting lists, tons more courses, and some big celebrations. Until then, stay safe and keep coding.
